WRITING WITH HANDS WITHOUT PENS
WRITING WITH HANDS WITHOUT PENS...
"For the revelation pertains to an appointed time— it speaks truthfully about the end. Though it delays, wait for it, because it will surely come about— it will not be late!" Habakkuk 2:3
I came out from the just ended 2018 Pentecost Ministers and Wives Conference as one of the most happiest people. The joy which filled my heart did not only come from the powerful but very practical ministrations and intensive prayers which characterized the annually-held program, but a perfect fulfillment of a dream I had in 2002, when I was barely one year old in ministry.
I dreamed of being in a big program in which almost all of the participants were writing or taking notes. They were writing with their hands but not with pens. Yes, they were all writing with their hands but without pens!!! How could you understand such a dream in Ghana in 2002 when there were no computers, tablets and smart phones? I couldn't find the right words then to describe my experience in those days but I somehow understood it as a future development when it will be possible for people to write without pens.
Lo and behold, after 16 years, I saw almost the same thing becoming real at the Conference ... Most of the participants were writing without pens and reading Bibles without any hard copies... In fact most of the over 3,000 participants comprising ministers and their beautiful wives who attended the conference were not found with the traditional big leather bibles but with tablets, iPads, smart phones and other devices from which Bible apps and word processor apps could be accessed for reading and note-taking.
Strengthened by what I saw in that dream, I began to pursue a path in that direction of writing without pens.
I took interest in learning computing and so barely a year later, I actuality started writing without pens. I got a small laptop which I carried around wherever I went. In 2005, I got a phone which I could use to take notes in addition to my laptop.
I determined to help so many people who were interested in learning or acquiring such devices. I distributed so many computer applications and taught so many people how to apply ICT in life and ministry.
I was among the first people to use Android phones in Ghana so I became a beta tester of many Android apps and assisted so many people to also acquire and use iPads.
To the glory of God, I have been writing without pens since 2005. I've never carried along diaries, notebooks and hardcopy bibles but have been doing the works of ministry as effectively as possible, but not without much suffering!
I have been accused severally of not being spiritual because I carried a computer instead of carrying and reading a hard copy Bible. I once preached a very powerful message at a funeral and won 26 souls but instead of being commended, I was warned never to preach from a laptop again!
Out of ignorance and jealousy, I was accused of fidgeting in church with mobile phones during church services and meetings. All these happened to me because while people were writing with pens in notebooks and flipping pages in their fat leather bibles, I would be writing without pens on either the computer or on my phone or tablet.
I thank God for giving me the strength to pursue the future in the midst of opposition. I thank God that even those who bitterly demonized me about 10 years ago are now doing what I was doing then, and now also writing with their hands without pens in church.
Stand by your dreams. Don't be afraid of opposition. God will prove them wrong if you stand by His side. God bless you. Now those who accused me in those days can understand me, and I don't begrudge any of them too. Being shaped by the dream I had, I can boldly say without mincing words that when it comes to the application of technology towards ministry perspectives, I can never be found wanting... I have paid the price, now reaping the fruitful results. Thank you Jesus.
