THE FORGOTTEN BRETHREN: C.O.P. NSAWAM PRISONS ASSEMBLY

INTRODUCTION

Beloved in Christ, Jesus is working everywhere! We were very amazed when we visited the Medium Security Prisons in Nsawam (GHANA'S BIGGEST PRISON) for the first time in November 2012. Since then, we have been ocassionally fellowshipping with them, participating in their Bible studies and other activities. Yesterday, I received a letter from their Presiding letter which I want to share the contents with you here. Today, I bring you an attachment of the letter. i will post the letter itself next week

.

SOME ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS OF THE CHURCH OF PENTECOST, INMATES ASSEMBLY - NSAWAM MEDIUM SECURITY PRISONS, (GHANA)

This Assembly was planted by Rev. Dr. Supt. James Teye Tetteh (Prison Chaplain and Pastor of The Church of Pentecost). The registered and numerical strength of the church is now 868.

Average Sunday church attendance stands around 600. We do conduct morning devotions from 6:30am to 7:30am with not less than 100 worshippers. Our weekly Bible Study classes is held from 9:30 am to 11.00 am on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays

Our Rehoboth Foundation School (new Converts Bible Study Class) is held from 7:30 to. 9:30 am on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays after which they join the main assembly's Bible Study Class.

We hold leadership seminars to train leaders of the various departments of the Assembly. We additionally hold revival meetings and conventions for the edification of the church. In such programmes, men of God from our sister churches outside this prison are invited to minister to our needs.

We have the following church departments, headed by people who are well trained by the grace of God for the work of ministry:1. Evangelism Department2. Health Department3. Accounts Department4. Education Department5. Welfare Department6. Music DepartmentThe Music Department has 3 groups: Pentecost Choir, The Inspirers and Revival SingersThe outfits of the Pentecost Choir were specifically provided by some members from Nsawam and Dansoman Districts of the Church of Pentecost.

VISITATIONS

Men and women of God from  the following Districts pay us regular Sunday visits and share the  word of God with us: Kaneshie, Dansoman, Odorkor, Achimota Djankrom, Nsawam, Accra New Town, Suhum, Adoagyiri and many others. They provide us with material assistance as well. We are very much grateful to them.

Last year, the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, Aps Dr. Opoku Onyina paid us a wonderful visit. Among his entourage were Aps Alfred Koduah, the Gen. Secretary and Apostle M.C. Asiedu Evangelism Director. Not only did the Chairman share the word of God with us; they donated drugs, food items and cash to the Prison. Praise the Lord!

Among the prominent visitations we had was Elder Samuel Amo Tobbin of Tobinco Pharmaceuticals. He donated assorted drugs to the prison and built a modern place of convenience for the Prison. Thanks be to God.

In the closing week of last year, we had a refreshing apostolic visitation from Suhum Area head, Apostle Blessed Bonney.

Nsawam District has been a lot of help to us. Not only do they seek our spiritual welfare but they often feed us with hot, nourished meals. Oh my! It makes us remember our beloved parents and affirm that Home is the grandest of all human institutions.

The Presiding Elder and the leadership of the Evangelism Department visit the sick members and the new converts every evening to pray with them and encourage them.

Notwithstanding our numerous challenges, we have a strong belief that the grace of God is sufficient for us. Thus, our story has been the story of grace. God bless you all.
