THE SPIRITUAL STATES OF HUMAN BEINGS

Texts: Rom 8:3-15, 1Cor 3:3-6, Gal 5:16-19

The Bible reveals 3 spiritual states of all human beings. In fact human beings are like water; we are capable of existing in three states. The states are Natural, Carnal and Spiritual. Every person is in one of the states at any point in time. .

1.  Natural Man 👨
a. 👨 Not born again
b. 👨 Lives only by natural senses.
c. 👨 Lives by the dictates of his flesh.
d. 👨 His life is soulish.
It is dangerous to live the life of the natural man because Jesus once told a story of one natural man who was told his soul will be taken out of him, Luke 12:16-21

2.  Carnal Man👫
a.👫 Born again but infant in Christ
b.👫May speak in tongues and operate Spiritual gifts.
c.👫Controlled by the desires of the flesh.
d.👫Does not give in to what the Spirit says.
e.👫Might have once been spiritual but has backslidden.
f.👫Might not have grown to become spiritual.
g.👫Loves the works of the sinful nature.
h.👫Is very difficult in Church, because he neither obeys the word of God nor church leaders.
i.👫 If he is a leader, he may operate mainly through lies, tricks and divisions.
Carnal men are the most controversial people. They are the ones Jesus addressed as hypocrites. Don’t live like one, allow the Holy Spirit to deal with all your weakness

3. Spiritual Man🔥
a. 🔥Born again.
b. 🔥Controlled by the Spirit of God.
c. 🔥Submits to the Spirit and word of God.
d. 🔥All his 3 Sections are alive and active.
e. 🔥Operates mainly on the spiritual dimensions of his life, i.e., he hears with his spiritual ears, sees with spiritual eyes, etc.
f. 🔥He keeps the sinful nature under control.

Mature Christians have overcome most of their weaknesses in temperament. They walk in the spirit and have mortified the deeds of the flesh. They are lovely to live with. Non-Christians testify about their Christian virtues. When in leadership positions, people appreciate their lifestyles. Obedience to the Lord becomes the key object in their lives. They live peacefully with their co-workers, leaders or friends. No matter what group they fall in temperament, they manage to exhibit their Christian virtues. Although they may not be always successful, their lifestyles show that they are mature Christians. How can one become a mature Christian?

It is very unfortunate to notice that:
😨The queue of Natural People in the Church is becoming longer and longer!
😨The queue of Carnal People is now the Longest in the Church.
😨The queue of Spiritual People is gradually becoming shorter.
Where is your stand now?
God’s desire is that his people live according to the dictates of His spirit. If you want to live at peace with God and have a place with Him when you leave this earth, then you need to strive to become a Spirit-led Christian.
