REFLECTIONS: THIS ELECTIONS TOO HAS COME TO PASS

By Pastor William Boachie-Ansah

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, *forgetting those things which are behind,* and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus... Philippians 4:13-14

Beloved of God.. We thank the Lord for sailing Ghana through the turbulent season of hotly contested elections to a peaceful haven. Now that the results are about to be declared, we ask all of you to congratulate your friends on the winning side. Those who won should also console their friends who find it difficult to face the reality of defeat. Take note that people at each end of the political divide have either won or lost an election in Ghana before so there's nothing new about this. People should learn how to move on in life.

This is now the period of reflection for both parties.
Now that the game is over,

1. Winners should reflect on how to fulfill all the numerous promises they made which moved people to vote for them within the next four years. This is going to be a different task but with total commitment and sacrifice, it is not impossible to move Ghana forward.

2. Losers on the other hand, need to reflect on how to repackage themselves and their messages well, and conduct themselves well in opposition. Accepting defeat and moving on in time, and developing new winning strategies will be more helpful than spending much time to cry over spilled milk.

3. We ask you, as a Christian, to also reflect on the good and the bad lessons learned from the campaigning period... The good and bad speeches you made, good and scandalous photos and videos you shared on social media to discredit your opponents, as well as all the malicious lies which proceeded out of your mouth.. what caused some to lose and others to win. Let the lifestyle of those who won as well as those who lost teach you lessons.

Very importantly, all of us should consider the time and energy we spent in helping our parties to win power and compare it to how we help to spread the gospel of Jesus. Let's also reflect on how we swiftly respond to communication from our political leaders as against our Christian leaders in general and our respective church leaders..

So from now you can share any lessons you've learnt personally with us on this platform. But make sure to be considerate in your choice of words. This too has come to pass.. Let's forget the past now and strive for what is ahead.

But the most important event we are waiting for, is the coming of our Lord Jesus. Let's work more on how to invest more to bring the lost world to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, our soon coming King. There will be greatest shocks and surprises when Jesus comes, than we've experienced in this elections!

God bless our homeland Ghana
God bless you all.
